Research Interests:

The majority of Dr. Garman’s efforts are concentrated in the arenas of comparative neuropathology and neurotoxicology.  Much of this work is performed in his capacity as a consultant to numerous chemical and pharmaceutical companies and to governmental agencies that are assessing neurotoxic endpoints revealed in safety evaluation studies performed on a variety of animal species.  In addition, Dr. Garman is involved in a number of collaborative research projects on brain ischemia/hypoxia and traumatic brain injury.  These projects are predominantly in collaboration with investigators at the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research at the University of Pittsburgh.
