General Session and Occupational Health and Safety

One time.

Web-based training is available. To access Module 3, go to Internet-Based Studies in Education and Research and go to the "Module Listings" to view the various modules.

Small or Large Animal Training

Every three years

You can attend live sessions or monthly video sessions. 

Primate Training

You can attend live sessions or monthly video sessions.   An abbreviated session is available for yearly retraining.

Chemical Hygiene Training

University Environmental Health and Safety  (EH&S) 624-9505 http://www.ehs.pitt.edu

Every three years

EH&S holds a live training session monthly. A web-based training session is available if the session has been taken previously. To access the web-based training go to Internet-Based Studies in Education and Research and click on the Chemical Hygiene Training Module.

Blood Borne Pathogen Training

Is required yearly

EH&S holds a live training session monthly. A web-based training session is available if the session has been taken previously. To access the web-based training go to Internet-Based Studies in Education and Research and click on the Bloodboarne Pathogen Training Module.

Formaldehyde Training

EH&S should be contacted so that they can confirm you are meeting the required standards in your laboratory and to see if training is required

TB testing

Every six months if working with primates

OR

1 time/year

University employees must contact EH&S to arrange for testing at Concentra Health Services. Non-university employees must arrange for testing/vaccination with a physician, then contact EHS to have your testing records transferred to the University records. If you test positive and do not get TB tested, EHS still needs for you to contact them so that the appropriate paperwork is filed.

Serum Banking

One time testing

Contact EHS to arrange for the Serum Banking to be performed at Work Partners.  If you have had Serum Banking done in the past, those samples are not viable.

Vaccinations (Rabies/Rabies titre, Polysac, Tetanus, Hept B, Vaccinia, Botulism, Flu, Measle)

UPP Physician Compliance Training
Go to the Physician Portal at http://physicianportal.upmc.com
Is required yearly
Go to the Physician Portal web page http://physicianportal.upmc.com Click on EDUCATION than choose PHYSICIAN TRAINING. You will be prompted to type in a Username and Password. This will be your NT log in information. This training includes HIPAA Information Security Training and Teaching Physician Guidelines (required) and two elective modules. Safety Training and Billing Compliance Training are also required.
